Has OpenAI proved that GPT-6 Astra is artificial general intelligence?

Not conclusively. OpenAI describes GPT-6 Astra as a generational advance, and company president Greg Brockman said he personally believes the model may mark the arrival of artificial general intelligence. That belief is not an independently established finding.

OpenAI reports exceptional results across computer-use, science, coding and reasoning evaluations. These results demonstrate substantial capabilities, but most were produced or reported by the company, and performance on selected benchmarks does not by itself establish general human-level intelligence.

AGI has no universally accepted definition or certification test. Independent reporting also notes that Astra's reliability on complex real-world tasks remains to be demonstrated, so the claim that it has achieved AGI cannot currently be verified.
